About the spot

Praia do Amado near Carrapateira is primarily a busy surfing beach. Spot guides describe kite use in suitable northwesterly conditions, but surf lessons and swimmers may prevent a safe launch. Cliffs and rocky edges bound the beach.

Independent kiting requires wave experience, upwind control and a clear exit. Amado is not a sheltered flat-water spot, and larger swell may make it unsuitable even for skilled riders. Its reputation as a surf beach should not be confused with general kite permission or beginner suitability.
