About the spot

This entry concerns Baleal Bay south of the peninsula, rather than the rocky Lagide surf area. It is an Atlantic wave spot; the curving shoreline produces very different wind angles along the bay. Land shelter and buildings can add gusts.

Kiting is an option for experienced riders able to assess a suitable section and clear exit. A northerly forecast alone does not guarantee a workable launch at the northern end. Surf groups, swimmers and currents are further reasons not to classify Baleal as a general beginner flat-water spot.

Access & local notes

Confirm the actual launch within the bay locally. Do not rig among surf lessons or attempt a risky launch through wind shadow. Choose another area with offshore wind or inadequate downwind clearance.
