Praia da Bordeira

About the spot

Praia da Bordeira near Carrapateira is a large exposed Atlantic beach with dunes and a river entrance. The local parish explicitly lists kitesurfing and describes exposure to northwesterly winds. The kite area is a wave environment; temporary shallow pools near the river are not a reliably available beginner lagoon.

Independent sessions require upwind control and experience in Atlantic surf. Swell, current and changing sand determine the entry. The expansive beach helps only when wind angle, permitted launch and return route actually suit the session.

Access & local notes

Use existing boardwalks and protect the dunes. If access requires crossing the river, check depth and current on site. Respect launching zones, swimming areas and natural-park rules.
