Stein has broad nearshore shallows on the eastern Kiel Fjord, used for tuition and freeriding in suitable conditions. Stronger wind creates short waves and chop. Watersports centres provide local guidance.

Water level can vary substantially; very shallow sections are unsuitable for jumps or foils. Follow launch and swimming zones, keep the narrow water access clear and watch shipping beyond the sports area.
