About the spot

Mardorf provides the official kite and surf access on Steinhuder Meer’s northern shore. Suitable wind supports lessons and freeriding on this shallow inland lake, with short chop as it strengthens. Check actual depth and the soft bottom.

The general season runs 20 March–31 October. Kiters may use Mardorf’s buoy-marked surf area until 15 November. That extension does not apply to the whole lake; bird refuges and other closed sections remain off limits.
