About the spot

Playa Barca is the northern Sotavento lagoon area at the René Egli centre. The lagoon fills only at suitable tides, with changing depth and usable area. When sufficiently filled, it provides more sheltered water than the open sea outside.

Locally accelerated wind can be strong, gusty and offshore. Lessons and independent sessions therefore need coordination with the centre and its safety operation. Empty or excessively shallow lagoon sections are not alternative riding water. Open-sea sessions have different requirements from supervised practice in standing depth.

Extensive experience with difficult launches, surf, currents or obstacles is required. Little room for riding or judgement errors.
Skill level: Pro
An exceptionally demanding specialist spot for pro-level riders. Extreme spot hazards require precise control, local knowledge and agreed safety support.
