About the spot

San Lorenzo is Gijón's urban wave beach. Northeast wind can arrive cross-onshore and combine with Atlantic swell to produce demanding waves. At higher tides, water approaches the promenade and greatly reduces launching and exit space.

The spot mainly suits experienced riders outside bathing periods. Currents, gusty shoreline wind and numerous surfers require clear separation. A windsurf channel is not automatic kite permission. Sources differ about summer access, so this is explicitly a seasonal location whose current use must be confirmed locally.

Access & local notes

Do not assume summer access: the spot guide lists a bathing-season kite ban. Check current municipal permission locally; without it, do not launch.
