Palmones

About the spot

Palmones lies in the Bay of Algeciras and is used as an alternative when Levante becomes very strong in Tarifa. Easterly wind can be more moderate here, although chop and short waves remain possible. Usable beach space is much smaller than at Tarifa's main spots.

Traffic, the river mouth and a restricted launch demand reliable kite control. Assess the actual conditions rather than transferring Tarifa wind readings. This entry covers the seafront; the protected marshes and inner river area are not alternative riding water.

Access & local notes

Use only the currently permitted seafront area. Respect summer swimming zones and the river mouth; do not ride into the marshes.
