About the spot

Los Lances Norte is Tarifa's extensive kite area beyond the town beach. Westerly to southwesterly Poniente generally provides the more favourable orientation, with chop and waves building as wind increases. Levante can instead be gusty and cross-offshore.

Schools and independent riders share designated sections. Lessons are possible, but surf and busy water require appropriate grouping. Offshore sessions require explicitly confirmed rescue coverage; simply seeing a rescue boat is insufficient. Watch for stones and reduced clear beach space towards the northern end.

Access & local notes

Observe seasonal separation between teaching and independent zones, especially 15 June–15 September. Do not move into the protected Río Jara lagoon.
