About the spot

El Médano is Tenerife's main kite and teaching location. This entry covers the bay at Playa Leocadio Machado southwest of town. Northerly and northeasterly trades frequently provide usable conditions, with chop and weather-dependent surf.

Schools, windsurfers and independent kiters share designated sections. Beginners should take supervised lessons; progressing riders need separation and a controlled return. Strong trades can make the spot substantially more demanding. Nearby El Cabezo is a separate rocky wave spot with a different skill requirement.
