About the spot
Traba on the Costa da Morte is a dedicated Atlantic wave spot. Northeast wind can arrive cross-onshore, combining with wind waves or northwest swell. This offers opportunities for experienced wave kiters rather than a dependable beginner area.
Powerful surf, currents and rocks demand reliable self-rescue and a realistic swell assessment. Waves can remain large even when wind seems moderate. The protected lagoon behind the beach is not riding water. A clear sandy launch and ample distance from obstacles are essential.
Access & local notes
Launch only in manageable surf. Use existing paths and keep clear of rocks, the lagoon and dunes.
