About the spot

This spot is in the Cávado estuary behind the Ofir sand spit. With sufficient water, the inside offers flat to choppy conditions; Atlantic surf is on the other side of the spit. Kite schools use the area and may arrange boat transfers to the launch.

Northwesterly wind is a typical favourable direction. The usable area depends strongly on the tide: sandbanks dry out at low water, while channels retain current. Lessons are possible, but the river entrance and navigation channel are not unrestricted practice areas.
