About the spot

This spot identifies Cabedelo on the southern side of the Mondego mouth in Figueira da Foz. The long sandy beach has documented wave-sport and kite use. It faces the Atlantic; proximity to the river does not make it a sheltered flat-water lagoon.

The harbour breakwater, shipping and river-mouth currents are important constraints. Independent riders need reliable upwind ability and surf experience. Local kite lessons also use Cova or Costa de Lavos depending on conditions. A regional teaching offer therefore does not guarantee beginner conditions at this map point.
