Aytré

About the spot

Aytré lies in shallow Godechaud Bay south of La Rochelle. Southwest through northwest are established winds for the area. Water kiting requires sufficient tide; low water leaves extensive mudflats instead of a rideable bay.

The kite section near the camping area is separate from the summer swimming zone. Sharp shells in the mud and stones near the small seawall make foot protection useful. Independent riders need to understand water level and return timing. Lessons are available, but shallow water does not remove obstacles or the need for controlled launching.

Access & local notes

Do not launch when the bay is drying; watch for shells and stones and avoid the summer swimming zone.
