About the spot

Fort-Mahon is an open coastal spot between the Somme and Authie bays. Its broad sandy beach changes substantially with the tide. Banks may temporarily create calmer water, while the open sea adds waves and current. Westerly weather is the usual setup.

Schools teach in selected conditions, which does not make the whole coast a simple standing-depth area. Summer brings swimmers and other wind sports. Follow the current zoning and retain enough clear space both for launching and returning.
