About the spot

Merville-Franceville is one of Normandy's main teaching and freeride areas. Near the Orne estuary, banks create calmer water at suitable tides, while waves remain possible farther out. Northeast through west are the usual useful wind sectors.

Estuary current, the navigation channel and protected areas require attention. The marked kite zone is on the western beach near Boulevard Wattier. Schools may use southwest conditions with support, but offshore components make these unsuitable as a blanket beginner recommendation.
