About the spot

Grande Plage lies on the sea-facing side of the Gâvres peninsula. The local school uses it in southwest wind. Its open coastal water differs substantially from the shallow Petite Mer on the opposite side of the narrow land strip.

Swell can produce waves and shorebreak. Sand and nearby instruction do not make every wind strength suitable for beginners. Establish the current kite section, swimming areas and clear landing space before launching. Initial waterstarts require conditions selected by an instructor and appropriate supervision.
