About the spot

La Hume at Gujan-Mestras lies on the southern side of the Arcachon basin. The sheltered bay offers flat to choppy water rather than Atlantic surf. Westerly to northwesterly conditions and sufficient tide provide freeriding opportunities.

Extensive areas dry at low water. Channels, oyster activity and boat traffic interrupt the apparently uniform surface. The summer launch is on the right; verify current signage. Independent riders must time their return around the tide and keep clear of navigation routes. First sessions require local supervision.
