At lower tide, Le Havre's urban beach exposes sand for launching and offers waves or calmer freeriding sections. The local club identifies the area below Le Ponant as a main launch, especially in northwest wind. Stronger northerly or southerly components can disrupt the airflow.

Avoid high tide because of shingle, shorebreak and reduced safety space. The marked summer swimming area between Ponant and the harbour wall is off limits. Shared use demands assisted launches, clear separation and controlled upwind riding.
