About the spot

Sangatte sits at the northern end of the Cap Blanc-Nez coastline. Southwest to west winds and the exposed setting suit experienced freeriders and wave riders. The headland can make actual wind differ substantially from a broad-area forecast.

Low to mid tide leaves more launching space. High tide brings the water against shingle, sea defences and obstacles, often making launch unsuitable. Currents and surf require a controlled return. A trip along the cliffs needs local planning and organised recovery.
