About the spot

Balmedie north of Aberdeen is a long sandy beach backed by extensive dunes. Sandbanks change waves and depth with the tide; conditions range from flatter sections to substantial surf.

This exposed North Sea shore requires a realistic assessment of the waves. Rip currents can occur and storms can alter available beach space.
