About the spot
Benone is a long sandy beach on the Causeway Coast between Downhill and Magilligan. Northerlies are an established choice; Atlantic swell can change small-wave conditions into much more demanding surf.
A large beach does not replace assessment of waves or separation from swimmers and other activities. The Lough Foyle entrance is a different, more strongly flowing environment.
