About the spot

Machrihanish is a long sandy bay on the western side of the Kintyre peninsula. Atlantic exposure makes swell and weather changes important factors, with rocky areas interrupting the sandy coast.

The shoreline changes orientation around the bay. A wind angle that suits one end is therefore not a recommendation for the whole beach. This entry identifies the southern access near Machrihanish.
