About the spot

Minnis Bay is a north-facing sandy bay near Birchington. Low water exposes generous launch space, with flat sections and chop in suitable northerly winds; instructors regularly use the beach.

Groynes, shell beds and the sea wall limit the margin for error. The rising tide removes the beach, and drifting towards Reculver can leave a difficult return over rocky ground.

Access & local notes

Prefer low water and conservatively avoid 2.5 hours either side of high tide. Keep the boat ramp clear.
