About the spot

Ardroil Sands, often called Uig Sands, lies on western Lewis. The broad shallow bay fills with the tide and is an established kite and windsurf venue.

The water can look sheltered, but wind shadows, deeper channels and remoteness require independent planning. Uig on Lewis is distinct from the ferry village of the same name on Skye.
