About the spot

Westward Ho! is a long sandy beach backed by a distinctive pebble ridge beside Northam Burrows Country Park. Atlantic waves and broad low-tide sands make it an important north Devon kite and wave venue.

The rising tide reduces space in front of the ridge. Swimmers, surfers and other wind sports share the beach, so the council’s zone map is essential.

Access & local notes

Use the designated kite area and check current beach rules. Do not launch with insufficient sand in front of the pebble ridge.
