About the spot

Pounta is on the mainland opposite Elafonisos. Its shallow clear water looks inviting, but strong northerlies can be cross-offshore or offshore. It is not a beginner venue without organised cover; experienced riders also need a dependable recovery plan.

Account for ferries, swimmers and the Pavlopetri archaeological area when choosing where to ride. The marker identifies the beach area, not permission to ride over the submerged ruins. Confirm the permitted entry and usable water locally, and stay away from the ferry landing.
