About the spot

Guincho is an established and often strongly windy wave-kite spot west of Cascais. The summer Nortada from north to northwest can be accelerated and made gusty by the Serra de Sintra landscape. Atlantic swell and shorebreak add demanding entries and exits.

Rocks within and around the bay divide the usable areas. Independent sessions require reliable upwind ability and wave experience; beginners should use suitable supervised teaching conditions. A strong wind forecast does not automatically mean a good session here. Atlantic water remains cool even in summer.

Access & local notes

Respect kite and swimming zones. The Cascais notice prohibits kitesurfing with an IPMA yellow or higher sea-state warning. It also sets wind, time and distance limits; check the current rules before riding.
