Il Pilone lies at Sicily's northeastern tip beside the entrance to the Strait of Messina. Local tourism guidance describes powerful Sirocco and recommends experienced riders. Accelerated wind, currents and open water make the headland technically demanding.

The pin at the old electricity pylon does not authorise launching around the entire cape. Agree the appropriate windward side, launch area and return with local experts. Keep clear of swimmers and boat traffic. An independent Strait crossing is not a normal spot session; arrange recovery beforehand.
