About the spot

Punta Pellaro lies south of Reggio Calabria on the Strait of Messina. Several kite centres use this windy coast for lessons and freeriding. Spring-to-autumn sessions can benefit from thermal wind, with direction and strength depending on the day.

Supervised shoreline sections differ from the open strait. Increasing wind raises the demands on upwind riding and returning. Beginners need instruction and suitable conditions. Independent riders should check currents, the actual entry and recovery coverage locally; the strait is not an unrestricted downwind route.
