Vieste – Isola La Chianca

About the spot

La Chianca is the small teaching bay at the northern end of the Vieste area. A headland and offshore island create a more sheltered sandy standing area with northerly to northwesterly wind. It is an open sea bay with lagoon-like characteristics.

The inner area is explicitly reserved for students. Competent riders use the outside sector by arrangement, where water and wind may differ. Beginners benefit from organised lessons rather than an unassisted launch. A different wind direction may require the station to choose another departure.

Access & local notes

Arrange access with the station; keep the teaching bay clear and do not treat the island as an arbitrary launch.
