About the spot

Inside Lagoa de Albufeira, water is more sheltered than on the neighbouring Atlantic beach, and local kite schools operate there. Shallows alternate with deeper water and shellfish-farming structures. It is not a uniformly clear standing-depth lagoon.

Northwesterly conditions are useful for teaching. When the sea entrance is open, substantial currents can develop at the mouth. Beginners should use supervised sessions in a suitable area; independent riding requires knowledge of zones and obstacles. The western map point does not establish permission throughout the entrance area.

Access & local notes

During the bathing season, Edital 97/2022 prohibits kitesurfing in the defined western lagoon section. Confirm the current boundary and a permitted launch with the local school; avoid the entrance and shellfish installations.
