About the spot

Leça da Palmeira is a demanding wave spot north of Leixões harbour. The sandy beach lies between northern rocks and the large harbour breakwater to the south. Recovery space is therefore much more limited than on an unobstructed coast.

West-northwest to northwest is described as a favourable wind sector. Heavy surf can still make the beach unsuitable. This spot is for very experienced riders with reliable upwind ability and wave control, and is unsuitable for independent first sessions.
