About the spot

Martinhal near Sagres is a special case: the frequent northerly Nortada blows offshore at this beach. Water near shore may look smooth, but problems carry a rider away from land. Wind shadow can add gusts. Smooth water must not be mistaken for an easy return to shore.

A kite session is only an option for very experienced riders with locally confirmed permission and an operational rescue boat arranged beforehand. A windsurf or wing facility does not promise kite rescue. Other wind patterns can bring waves and current and require a separate assessment.
