Murtosa / Ria de Aveiro

About the spot

Murtosa is in the sheltered interior of Ria de Aveiro. The area offers flat water to chop and is used by a local kite school. It can therefore suit supervised learning, but this does not mean standing depth everywhere or unrestricted access to every shore.

Summer northerlies are typical, and southerly weather patterns are also used. Tides and channels change depth and current. The map point follows the documented school location; the launch and riding area must match the actual wind and water level.

Access & local notes

Arrange access to the school area and a briefing beforehand. Account for channels, shellfish areas and other water users; a calm shallow surface does not establish enough depth for a foil.
