About the spot

De Kaloot faces the Westerschelde and can be used at different tide levels when its narrow launch retains enough room. Small waves do not remove the significance of currents or nearby large ships.

The shipping channel and its immediate surroundings are excluded. Offshore conditions are unsuitable because a dependable return cannot be assumed. Riders need independence, a controlled launch and a planned exit. Shallower shoreline patches do not make this a generally beginner-friendly standing-depth venue.
