About the spot

Breskens Oost provides shallower patches and often relatively smooth water near the Westerschelde entrance. However, high tide greatly reduces the usable beach, and rows of groyne posts can disappear below the surface.

Nearby shipping and estuary currents make a reliable return more important than the small wave size suggests. Independent riders must follow the local zone precisely and land in time. It is unsuitable for unsupervised first attempts; even a broad low-tide beach remains strongly tidal.
