About the spot

Huisduinen lies near the strongly tidal entrance to Marsdiep. A longer walk from the Fort Kijkduin area leads to the beach. Launching takes place between groynes whose shell-covered stones become especially hazardous when submerged.

Strong tidal flow and exposed waves make this a demanding venue. Updrafts at the dike can lift a kite unpredictably, so do not launch there. Offshore protected habitats and seal areas are not alternative landing places. Reliable upwind control and local knowledge are essential.
