About the spot

Petten's authorised kite section is south of Palendorp. Sandbanks can create shallower patches at lower tide, but the open North Sea also brings strong shorebreak and coastal currents. Confident riders are the main audience.

The broad reshaped beach does not permit launching everywhere. Summer swimmers and the local zoning restrict usable space. Lessons may operate in suitable conditions, but this should not be taken as evidence that unsupervised beginners can safely use the open-water venue.
