About the spot

Schiermonnikoog's authorised North Sea zone lies between beach posts 3 and 5. Its broad beach changes substantially with the tide. Banks can shelter flatter water at lower levels, while waves become more prominent around high tide.

The curving coast changes wind exposure along the zone, so an angle suitable at one end may not suit the other. Independent riders need surf and current experience. Beginners should use appropriate school conditions rather than attempt open-sea practice alone.
