About the spot

Vlieland's permitted North Sea venue lies west of Badhuys. The sandy beach opens onto deep water with waves and currents. Changing tide alters both the surf and the space available for landing.

Groynes may disappear completely at high water. Riders need to handle waves and obstacles independently. The island's calmer-looking Wadden shore is not an authorised alternative. On a first visit, identify the marked kite area carefully before laying out equipment on the beach.
