About the spot

Praia do Meco here means the exposed Atlantic beach around Moinho de Baixo. It is distinct from Lagoa de Albufeira farther north. The spot offers waves; a steeper beach and powerful shorebreak can make entry and return demanding.

Summer northerlies are used for kiting, but need assessing alongside swell and current. The area mainly suits experienced riders. A broad sandy beach or few visitors does not make the surf beginner-friendly; skip the session when returning to shore would be difficult.
