About the spot

Praia do Norte in Nazaré is a specialist spot for highly experienced wave kiters. Actual kite use is documented, including professional riding. The nearby Nazaré Canyon and large Atlantic swell can produce exceptionally severe surf; record rides are not a benchmark for ordinary recreational sessions.

Even outside major swells, waves, currents and entry and exit remain demanding. This entry is not a recommendation for beginners or an improvised strong-wind attempt. A session requires small, manageable conditions, local experience and a specific rescue plan.
